Richard Clayderman

Richard Clayderman
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search Richard Clayderman (born Philippe Pagès on December 28, 1953, Paris, France) is a French pianist who has released numerous albums, including renditions and arrangements of popular music, French chansons, and popular piano works of Beethoven, Chopin and Mozart. Most of his recordings focus on popular music in general and orchestral arrangements of well-known romantic songs in particular, such as Yesterday, The Sound of Silence and Memory, rather than on Jazz or Classical Music. He is known to alter many famous pieces of music such as Fur Elise. His music is generally played with an orchestra. This accompaniment is usually with James Last's orchestra.
Biography Born to a piano teacher, Clayderman started studying to play piano at age six, and he was accepted at a Conservatory of Music in Paris at age 12. After finishing Conservatory he worked as an accompanist and session musician. His life changed dramatically in 1976, when he recorded a single "Ballade pour Adeline", composed by French musical producer Paul de Senneville. The single became an instant success, selling 22 million copies in 38 countries. Since then, he has recorded over 1000 songs and has become one of the most successful instrumental recording artists in the world, with reported record sales in excess of 70 million units worldwide. In the peak of his career he performed 200 concerts in 250 days. He is often credited with pioneering the piano recordings of famous Hollywood soundtracks and pop music artists, such as ABBA.
Success Clayderman has a curious market niche on third world countries, a fact mainly attributed by critics to his commercially-oriented performance of local and very popular music (especially love songs), and inexpensive, well-distributed records. On the other hand, there are people who refer to his work as elevator music, because of extensive playing of his production in neutral spaces as elevators, malls and other public spaces. Richard Clayderman, however, according to the linked interview, does not see this classification as negative as, according to him, he feels pleased to turn people's workplaces and daily lives into more pleasant places through the use of his music. Clayderman's music continues to be exceedingly popular in East Asia, in places such as Japan , Taiwan and mainland China. Some Chinese music teachers attribute the popularity of his music in Mainland China to the increase in the number of piano students since the 1980s. According to the book Last Chance to See by Douglas Adams, published 1990, Clayderman was the most-played artist in China then.

Summary

Composer Robert Schumann's passionate devotion to his fiancee, Clara, and anguish that the marriage was opposed by her father Friedrich Wieck resulted, says author Basil Howitt, in some of his most stupendous work."Intense and unfulfilled longing for his beloved drew some heavenly music from Schumann," says Howitt, in his recently published book, 'Love Lives of the Great Composers'. No less than four major works grew out of all his pain and anguish." Howitt says: "My cumulative impression is that suffering and angst in love have produced more great art than has happiness."

Summary

A more likely reason for the enduring popularity of Coke may, however, be found in the company's enviable marketing strategies. Over the years it has come up with some of the most memorable commercials, tunes, slogans and sponsorship in the world of advertising, variously emphasizing international harmony, youthfulness and a carefree lifestyle. Few other companies (arguably including Pepsi) have been able to match such marketing ploys so consistently or effectively. As suggested earlier, the influences of American culture are evident just about everywhere, and Coca-Cola has somehow come to represent a vision of the United States that much of the rest of the world dreams about and aspires to. Perhaps drinking Coke brings people that little bit closer to the dream.

Blogging Experience

This is my first time to take the course of "Internet English". In the begining, I fee it may be an interesting class. In this class, we learn how to use internet to creat a Blog? I just create a Chinese Blog before. So it's very intereting for me. Our teacher Emma wants us using blog and chat room to improve our English skills.
I think the two ways are useful for me. First, we have to create our blog. Emma asks us to post some English articles. For example: My introduction, online dictionaries, search ESL/EFL resources....! Because my blog's lauguage is in English. I type some words in English to introduce myself. And I also read the English articles. So I feel it's a good way for me to improve my English skills. It helps me a lot.
Second, our teacher Emma wants us using chat room to talk with our group members. In the beginning, I was so nervous. I didn't know how to say somethinkg in English. Although my typing is very fast, but we just use very simple words to chat. It's so funny. We use English to talk more than 20 minutes. It's amazing. I think it's a good way to improve my English skills well.

After I learned how to create a blog. I design my blog for more colorful. I try to put pictures on my introduction. Write some articles on blog. I also find some interesting movie and introduce it. I learned how to put the music on my blog. It's not difficult, but it will spend a lot of time. But actually "Blog" is very interesting, your must try it!

When our classmates present their blog. I feel some people do their blog very cute. For example, Melissa' Blog. She use a picture, the rabbit, when you view her blog, the rabbit will follow the mouse. It's so cute. And she uses "background music",
you can choose music when you view her blog. I like it. And Angeline's Blog has something special. The bear clock is so cute, and her backgound music is very good. I think these features I have to learn.

When I create my blog, I have some problem with my blog. The "HTML" is so difficult. Sometimes maybe I post a picture on my blog. But when I open it, I can't see the picture. Or If I post a video or music. The "HTML" I search for a long time. But when I post them. It shows that your HTML is not suport them. It is the most difficult for me. Make me crazy....><"

Describe My Blog

Hello, welcome to my blog. My blog's name is "Rabbit Home". Because my nickname is Rabbit. So I use "Rabbit Home" for my blog.

There are many topic in my blog. First, you can see my introduction. I put a picture about myself, and use a few words to introduce myself in English. Then, you can see Online Dictionaries. It includes three English-Chinese and three English-English dictionaries. You can use them to improve your English ability. Next is ESL/EFL resources. It is a resource about English. There are many information about English. I think it's very useful. And next topic is my "Weblog". Suppose that I am doing research about the weblog. I will use what ways to be useful English teachinkg and learning. Next is "English News". Teacher asks me to find a article. Set up URL. And if the word is too difficult. You can connect it to dictionary. I also put a video to show you. The movie named "Trust the Man". Then I will show you my favorite song. "The day you went away". The singer is "M2M". It an old song, but I like its cantus very much. Next, you can see the 3 interesting website. I recommend the "English Song". It's a weblite that has music and lyric. It includes many English old songs. For example: Big Big world is my favorite song. Then, it our chatting room with my group members. We use English to talk. It's a very interesting experience for me. Next is my "No Name Album". I put many pictures and articles in it. Finally, I want show you two videos. First one is my "Piano Presentation". Second one is my group member Doris sings a song "Fire Bird". It's so funny and interesting.

It's my blog "Rabbit Home". Thank you.

Chatting Experience

I have some chatting experiences before. When I was 16 years old, it's my first time to chat room. But it is a Chinese chat room. So it is easy for me to talk. In chat room, you have to use an ID to enter. And choice your age, gender, and where you live? After you entered these details, you may have to wait a moment. Then, maybe somebody will talk to you. But I think that if you are a girl, maybe boys are more want to talk to you than girls. It's my experience.

There are something interesting for me in chat room. For example, I remember one day, I enter the chat room at school. A boy talks to me. He is older than me 5 years old. He is serving in the army. At the beginning, I don't know how to ask him question? So we just ask each other's height, weight, age, hobby, even asterism. I feel very interesting. We have the same hobby. He likes to watch basketball game.
And I like, too. And we have a topic very much. He also told me about his family or life in the army. I feel it's a happy chatting experience for me. Then we leave e-mail for each other. Maybe we can be good friends.

But I also have some bad chatting experience. Sometimes, I went to chat room. Somebody are strange. They ask some embarrassing questions. For example, what is your three measurements? Have you ever seen the "A" video? May I follow one night stand with you? It makes me feel really disgusting. I think chat room is a place that you can share your happy or sad with other. You can release your motion and make friends here.

In this semester, we have a course "Internet English". Our teacher Emma asks us to have an experience of English chatting with our group members. She asks us have to chat for 20 minutes. I think O MY GOD. It's impossible for me. But teacher says "try it". We use MSN to chat with my group members. Our group members are Anna, Melissa, Doris, Joyce, Amanda, Andrea. I'm so nervous. Because my grammar is very bad. Everyone use English name for their ID. At beginning, we just use simple words, like how are you? Fine, thanks. Ok. Sometimes your will see the "Chinese type English". But we all understand the meaning. We talk a lot of things about school life. Even our grammar is wrong, but I am very happy in the chatting room. It's a special experience for me. Because this is my first time to chat with other people in English.
It helps me a lot. Thank you my teacher Emma. I'm very enjoying this class.

Music

The day you went away

music

Lyric:

Well I wonder could it be
When I was dreaming 'bout you baby you were dreaming of me
Call me crazy call me blind
To still be suffering is stupid after all of this time

Did I lose my love to someone better
And does she love you like
I doI do you know I really really do

Well hey so much I need to say
Been lonely since the day
The day you went away
So sad but true
For me there's only you
Been cryin since the day
The day you went away

Oh whoa .... yeah... oh...ooh...

I remember date and time
September twenty-second Sunday twenty-five after nine
In the doorway with your case
No longer shouting at each other
There were tears on our faces

And we were letting go of something special
Something we'll never have again
I know, I guess I really really know

Well hey so much I need to say
Been lonely since the day
The day you went away
So sad but true
For me there's only you
Been crying since the day
The day you went away
The day you went away
The day you went away
Oh whoa .... yeah oh

Did I lose my love to someone better
And does she love you like
I doI do you know I really really do

Well hey so much I need to say
Been lonely since the day
The day you went away
So sad but true
For me there's only you
Been crying since the dayThe day you went away

Why do we never know what we've got till it's gone
How could I carry on
The day you went away
Cause I've been missing you so much I had to say
Been crying since the day
The day you went away
The day you went away
The day you went away
oh whoa .. yeah oh

IOC chief urges China to stay focused
URL

BEIJING (AP) — IOC president Jacques Rogge urged China to stay on track in its preparations for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Prime Minister Wen Jiabao reassured Rogge of the Chinese government's support for the Olympics at a meeting on Wednesday.

"We discussed a wide range of Games-related topics and talked about sport in general," Rogge said. "I was particularly heartened by the support and the commitment of the Chinese Government for the 2008 Games, which I expect to be of the highest quality thanks to this support and to the dedication of the leadership ... and the enthusiasm of the Chinese people."

Rogge's visit was part of an inspection by the IOC's coordination commission, which monitors host city preparations. He praised China for its preparations so far, but urged local organizers to keep focused and avoid problems in the next two years.

"It is extremely important not to take your eye off the ball, because it is often in the moments when you lose your focus that mistakes can creep in," Rogge said earlier this week.

Rogge did not specify areas of concern, but civic groups and Beijing residents complain that the city's Olympic construction binge has exacerbated already severe air pollution and accelerated the razing of historic neighborhoods.

Media groups have voiced concern that Beijing won't allow unfettered access for journalists during the event, and human rights groups say they fear a crackdown on dissidents.
